How to check if it can scale

Hey Reader,

Do you rush into things?

I don't mean just quickly deciding on something.

It's more like you don't have data to back it up, but you have already invested the time so you might as well finish it.

This is one of the worst things you can do in business.

Because you are investing too much without knowing the chance of success.

I started thinking about this because a friend reached out to me this past Monday asking if I could hop on a quick call to talk about the program she wanted to launch.

She has been selling B2B but this new program is B2C, so she wanted to hear my thoughts on how to figure out the price point, how to survey her audience, etc.

I could feel that she was pretty anxious.

It does feel scary presenting a new offer to the audience, right? What if people don't need it? What if it is too expensive? So many what-ifs!

To be honest, no one knows how this program will do. Not her. Not me. No one.

So I suggested to her β€” "What about extracting one part of the program and selling a standalone paid workshop first?"

This way:

  1. She can launch it right away instead of planning blindly for another 6 weeks
  2. She can get a sense of who is interested in this program and even build a waitlist
  3. She can bring real people into the room and then talk to them to get more data

I still remember when I was telling her this, I was thinking to myself "No wonder I'm running Small School, I love helping people break down a big thing!"

If you have a new idea (course, book, live program, etc.) and you keep going in circles wondering if it can scale, I can show you what I've been using to make sure each thing I create can bring in sales.

Small School Podcast

Changes are scary.

Whenever a social media platform changes its layout, there is so much rage. People go "I like the old one. Why do you change it?!"

In this episode, I want to share my latest realization about making pivots. "Was it worth it?" "Could I have avoided it?"

Got a lovely note from Sailesh this week

Last month, Sailesh needed some help with his new course.

He didn't know where to start and how to create an experience that would make the participants go WOW.

I mean, it is easy to create a course, but not so easy to create one that is truly impactful and word-of-mouth-worthy.

I helped him in my "Build Your Core Asset" 1:1 program and asked if he could share a few words about his experience:

I'm loving this program so far! Because I get to work 1:1. I got to know Sailesh better. I got to teach closely. I got to give personalized suggestions.

If you also want to create a core asset, click here and let's chat more. Happy to help you figure out your best next step (even if it means not doing this program).

Enjoy your Sunday!

Cheers,
Kevon

Reconnect with your people

This morning, I stood quietly in a funeral hall, watching people who flew into town just to say goodbye to Grandpa Paul (my brother-in-law’s father). Suddenly, a powerful thought hit me: Who from my online audience would travel this far to say goodbye? Family members shared their words, and as photos flashed across the screen, I saw a lifetime of memories, especially how Grandpa Paul was so respected by his community. Naturally, I went into reflection mode. Last year, I got into a low season...

Hey Reader, At the end of last year, I had a chance to meet Ali Abdaal and helped him with his latest course. You are probably wondering β€” "Is he the same in real life?" Yup! I can tell you that he is vibey, friendly, and open just like who he is in his videos. It was such a great experience collaborating with him that I wanted to document the course creation steps using AI and share them with you. Hopefully, it helps you when you're creating your next course! How I Used AI to Build Ali...

How AI changes the future of info products

Hey Reader, 4 years ago, you could make a lot of money selling purely informational products. Today, with AI, content and information are commoditized, meaning you have to change how you teach and sell knowledge. So I did some thinking and reflecting, and here are my notes about the changes you can anticipate and what you can do to join in the next wave. What you can do when AI is dominating Cheers,β€” Kevon P.S. I'm keeping the email short because I want to put more energy and mind space into...
